WAYNE — The Kennebec Land Trust will host its annual meeting and cookout from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, at the Androscoggin Yacht Club. Between 2 and 4 p.m. volunteers will offer field trips to three KLT conservation properties in Wayne. The annual meeting event will feature a potluck cookout, brief meeting and photography contest and exhibit. KLT will also honor land donors Helen Holman of Litchfield and Elizabeth Cole of Vassalboro for their recent donations.
Volunteer Land Steward Jim Connors will lead a 2two-mile round trip easy/moderate hike to the fire tower at Mt. Pisgah. Nathalie Woolworth, KLT conservation assistant, will guide a moderate 1.25-mile hike at Gott Pasture Preserve; and Stan Davis, also a Volunteer Land Steward, will lead a paddle to Perkins Woods on Lake Androscoggin. Canoeists and kayakers must bring their own boats.
KLT will provide hamburgers, hot dogs and veggie burgers for the cookout.
Bring a side/salad or dessert to share, and a bathing suit for swimming.
Cost is $10 for adults, under 18 free. To RSVP, contact Woolworth at nwoolworth@tklt.org.
Elizabeth Cole’s 2011 donation of the 45-acre Seaward Mills Conservation Area in Vassalboro protects woodlands, farm fields and stream frontage with important wildlife habitat and agricultural, scenic and recreational values. Helen Holman’s donation of the Holman Conservation Area in Litchfield, a 70-acre conservation easement, conserves woodlands and wetlands bordering Magotty Meadows Brook for their wildlife habitat and recreational values. KLT will honor both donors at the meeting.
