FARMINGTON — Lynne and Rebecca Floyd, granddaughters of Paul and Emily Floyd of Farmington, will present a concert on Sunday, Aug. 14, as part of the town’s Nordica Centennial celebration.

The performance will take place at 2 p.m. in Nordica Auditorium. The Floyds will be accompanied by their friend, Kathleen Bartkowski, at the piano.

Lynne Floyd, soprano, received a degree in vocal performance and music education from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in voice from Arizona State University. Her operatic roles include Adele in “Die Fledermaus,” Gretel in “Hansel and Gretel,” Nella in “Gianni Schicchi” and Lily in the musical “The Secret Garden.” An accomplished recitalist, she has performed a varied repertoire in many parts of the country.

Rebecca Floyd, flutist, also received a degree in music from the University of Connecticut, where she won the University Concerto Competition. She has been a sought-after chamber artist throughout the Northeast, performing with the Connecticut Virtuosi and as a soloist at the Asylum Hill Congregational Church in Hartford. She is manager of interpretive services at the Mark Twain House in Hartford, and has been seen on an episode of Syfy Channel’s “Ghost Hunters.”

Bartowski received a degree in piano performance from the University of Connecticut and master’s degree in piano accompaniment from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. She has accompanied a wide range of performing groups based in Hartford, and is organist and celebrate accompanist for St. Luke Lutheran Church in Gales Ferry, Conn.

Admission is by donation. There will be a reception following the concert. On sale will be Lillian Nordica’s biography, “Yankee Diva: Lillian Nordica and the Golden Days of Opera;” Nordica’s own book,”Hints to Singers;”and Nordica T-shirts.
