LEWISTON — The Timothy J. Mynahan Foundation has announced the 20th TJM Scholarship recipient for 2011. The $2,500 scholarship has been awarded to Alex Parker, a 2011 graduate of St. Dominic Regional High School.
Criteria for selection of the scholarship are based on academic and athletic excellence ad commendable leadership ability.
Parker is a three-sport varsity athlete, participating in soccer, baseball and ice hockey. As captain of these teams, he not only demonstrated exceptional leadership abilities but also achieved the distinction of being named to the first team All State in all three sports.
Coupled with his athletic and leadership attributes, Parker has also achieved academic excellence throughout his high school years. As a member of the National Honor Society, he achieved recognition through commitment and work ethic.
Parker has also displayed a “sense of community” as demonstrated through his association with youth hockey, youth tennis and Little League baseball as well as with music ministry.
Parker will attend Bates College in the fall. He is the son of Kimberly and Bob Parker of Lewiston.
