CHESTERVILLE — After a tactical team surrounded a home and tried to make contact Friday night, State Police found Elmer A. Norton dead inside, according to spokesman Steve McCausland.

Norton, 24, had been wanted for questioning in connection with a Livermore Falls shooting on Thursday.

“We went to a house in Chesterville, surrounded it. We could not get a response and when the team entered the home some time last night they had found that he had shot and killed himself,” McCausland said Saturday. “Those are all the spartan details that I have on it.”

Livermore Falls police alleged that Norton had taken a shot at a 34-year-old man on Depot Street, missed, then ran away.
