WATERFORD — DeerWood Farm & Gardens was awarded a certification from the the National Wildlife Federation. The certification recognizes the mission of the DeerWood Farm & Gardens to steward the environment, in which it operates a small diversified farm growing daylilies, perennials and mixed vegetables.
DeerWood has earned the distinction of membership in the National Wildlife Federation’s Certified Wildlife Habitat program. DeerWood provides a small man-made frog pond and seasonal stream as a nearby water source, forest and vegetation as shelter, many varieties of plants to provide sources of food, as well as a small garden, fertilized by compost rich with life. By providing food, water, cover and places for wildlife to raise their young, as well as incorporating sustainable gardening practices, DeerWood Farm & Gardens has joined the more than 125,000 businesses and individual properties that are Certified Wildlife Habitats across the country.
