Kennebec Valley Community Action Program, MaineStream Finance of Penquis, Inc, and Community Concepts, Inc, will be facilitating workshops throughout the state over the next week for the Emergency Homeowner Loan Program. The deadline for pre-application submission is Friday, July 22.
EHLP is a federal mortgage assistance program designed to help homeowners who have been unemployed or underemployed due to the economy and have fallen behind at least 90 days on their home mortgages. Only 319 households in Maine will ultimately receive the assistance. The pre-applicant screening process, which concludes on July 22, will determine whether a household is eligible for submission into a lottery.
Following the lottery, eligible homeowners will complete a full EHLP application. If the homeowner cannot provide all of the supporting documentation, counselors move on to other homeowners on the waiting list for the program.
Workshops will review the EHLP initiative, homeowner opportunities and responsibilities and assist homeowners in completing the pre-applicant screening worksheets.
