LIVERMORE — The town was awarded a $516.67 safety enhancement grant from Maine Municipal Association to pay for two-thirds the cost of a set of dump body locking equipment, Assistant Administrator Kurt Schaub said.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration-approved locks are designed to assure that a raised dump body on a truck would not accidentally lower itself on an employee when repairs and maintenance needs call for someone to work under the truck, Schaub said Friday.
“It is a way, we have been overtime, trying to improve our safety practices and equipment in the Highway Department,” he said.
The cost of a set of locking systems is about $775. The town will pay the remaining share.
