WILTON — Police are investigating someone opening a door to a residence on Allen Street early Wednesday while a woman was watching television.

The woman was downstairs and heard a noise at about 12:30 a.m., Wilton police Administrative Assistant Lucille Porter said.

She thought the noise was a cat scratching, and then heard someone come in the door, she said.

She screamed and ran upstairs where her husband was sleeping, Porter said. She called 911.

Wilton officer Brandi Alton responded and the person had left the residence. She called for a K-9 unit.

A Maine State Police trooper and tracking dog responded and tracked the suspect to Route 2 and then lost the scent, she said.
