LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 directors on Thursday approved a three-year contract with Jay food service workers, Superintendent Bob Wall said Monday.

The agreement calls for a 1.5-percent pay increase the first year, a 1.75-percent increase the second, and a 2-percent increase the third, he said.

No action was taken after an executive session on a contract with secretaries/educational technicians, Wall said.

The district serves the towns of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.

In other action, the board approved a contract with Archie’s Inc. for $32,428 for trash collection service and recycling service.

The district-wide trash collection services, including tipping fee, is $28,746 for the 2011-12 year. Service will be provided on Tuesdays and Thursdays each week, according to the quote.

The contract provides for a trash container to be put at the Livermore Falls Middle School for as long as needed while the building is cleaned out. Voters approved closing the school in April.

The trash container will then be moved to another school.

The recycling service will be provided once a week for an annual cost of $3,682.56.

In other business, directors approved all coaching and academic appointments that were scheduled.

The only mixed vote came in the 8-1-1 appointment of Paul Berkey to fill the Spruce Mountain Middle School boys’ varsity basketball coach position. Dan DiPompo of Jay opposed the vote and Mary Redmond-Luce abstained.

Directors Mike Morrell and Tammy Dwinal-Shufelt, both of Jay, and Tammy Frost of Livermore Falls were absent and excused from the meeting due to other obligations.
