OXFORD — The Boxberry School will launch a summer art series this summer starting in July for children 7 to 13 years old. The program, set up like a day camp, will focus on art and art education. Three sessions will be offered, and will have concurrent classes with emphasis on art, music, drama and pottery. Local artists, musicians and teachers will teach the summer arts program emphasizing on their area of expertise.

The Boxberry School is a small nonprofit, independent elementary school located in the Oxford Hills of Maine and has been open since 2003. Part of The Boxberry School’s core philosophy is to approach learning through a hands-on, experiential manner, creating an environment that sparks curiosity in children, thus providing a platform for lifelong learning. Their unique, integrated curriculum is heavily infused with art, fostering creativity and achievement in all areas of problem solving. The summer program will borrow these same principles; hands on activities will be the premise of the program and students will be encouraged to have fun while exploring their creativity.

Session dates are July 25-29, Aug. 1-5 and Aug. 8-12. The cost for each session will be $150 plus a $10 materials fee. For more information about the program and for a detailed schedule, visit www.boxberryschool.org or call 743-9700. Space will be limited so all interested parties are encouraged to register early.
