Of the other candidates, Peter Southam got 183 votes, Seabury Lyon got 102 votes, James Bennett got 41 votes, and Larry Smith got 17 votes.
Mason said Carter and Sweetser are new to the board, although Carter is on the Bethel Planning Board and Bethel Board of Appeals.

For the Board of Assessors, Donald G. Bennett and Robert Blake, who were running unopposed for three-year terms, were re-elected, Mason said.
Of Bethel’s nearly 2,000 registered voters, the election attracted 428, she said.
Bethel’s town meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, in the Crescent Park School gym.
