NORWAY — Voters will decide on more than $35 million in budget requests for the Oxford Hills School District and elect two selectmen and several other town officials at Tuesday’s annual town election.
Voters approved the $34.6 million school budget at a budget hearing Thursday night, but now must reaffirm that vote on the ballot Tuesday. They will also be asked to give a yes or no vote to two other funding requests totaling $1.2 million for repairs and renovations at the Otisfield Elementary School and three other elementary schools.
The Otisfield school is looking at a $1 million project to remove mold and moisture from the walls this summer. The other funding is to address handicap accessibility issues.
Town Clerk Shirley Boyce said Friday that polling hours are 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Norway Fire Station on Danforth Street. Those who wish to register to vote may do so during regular town hall business hours but must show proof of residency.
Voters will receive three ballots, including the town ballot of elected positions and two school ballots — one to approve the school budget and the second to approve funding for school renovations.
Incumbent Selectmen Bill Damon and Warren Sessions are seeking re-election in the annual town election.
There are no contests on this year’s ballot.
In other election news, Oxford Hills School District Director Donald Gouin is also seeking re-election. He has served on the board for the past 24 years.
Patricia Brophey and Christopher Miller are seeking election to two open seats on the Board of Trustees of the Norway Memorial Library. Dareth Law and Errol Libby did not seek re-election.
