AUBURN — On June 4 and 5 students and parent volunteers from the Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts, Auburn, and its partner school the Bennett Karate Dojo in Poland will come together in fundraising efforts.

On Saturday, June 4, students will be participating in a kick-a-thon to raise money for the Japan tsunami victims. Students have been collecting pledges and on Saturday will demonstrate how many kicks they can do in a minute.

The kick-a-thon will begin at 9 a.m. To sponsor one of the kickers, send checks payable to the Red Cross with the word “Japan” on the memo line to Phoenix Karate, 56 Pride Rd., Auburn ME 04210.

On Sunday there will be a huge indoor yard sale at Phoenix Academy of Martial Arts, 1225 Center St. All the proceeds from the sale will benefit The Sidekick Foundation, which is an organization that provides scholarships for low income, disabled and troubled kids to attend karate lessons. Doors will open at 8 a.m. To donate merchandise for the yard sale, call 577-1046.
