Pomona Grange

LIVERMORE — Members of Androscoggin Pomona Grange will meet Wednesday, June 1, at New Norland Grange in East Livermore for a 6:30 p.m. supper. The meeting, which begins at 7:30, will include an election of officers and a memorial service. There will be a 50/50 raffle and an attendance drawing. All members and guests are welcome.

Garden club

NEW SHARON — Mt. Blue Area Garden Club members will hold their annual membership luncheon at noon, Tuesday, June 7, at the New Sharon Methodist Church. A lunch of hot turkey sandwiches, salads/a vegetable, along with homemade pie will be served by the ladies of the church. Lunch may be reserved only by prepaying $10 by June 1. Anyone wishing to attend should RSVP to Marion Hutchinson at 645-2067. Membership dues will be collected at this time. The public is invited to attend.

Newfoundland Day

NAPLES — The inaugural Newfoundland Day will be held from 6 to 11 p.m. Friday, June 3, at the Black Bear Cafe, Route 302. The event will feature Newfoundland cuisine, a screeching in ceremony and giveaways. It will bring people together who are from Newfoundland as well as lots of local Maine people. Italian dinner

STARKS — An Italian dinner will be held beginning at 5 p.m. Saturday, June 4, at the Starks Memorial Hall, Locke Hill Road. Menu includes lasagna, various pastas, meatballs, salads, breads, beverages, brownies with ice cream. Adults, $7; children under 10, $3. Benefits the Starks Progressive Club and the United in Christ Presbyterian Church.

Square dance

WILTON — Friendship Squares will host an ice cream social square dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, June 5, at the Cushing School. This will be an easy mainstream dance with Walt Bull as caller and Carol Stewart as cuer. All are welcome.

Homemakers meet

INDUSTRY — Clearwater Extension Homemakers members will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 9, at Shorey Chapel Church. The program will be a picnic and election of officers. Everyone is welcome to attend. For more information, call 778-6780.

Wheels for the World

AUGUSTA — Wheels for the World will sponsor a collection of wheelchairs and other mobility aids at Augusta Walmart from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 11. The wheelchairs, walkers, aluminum canes and crutches collected will be restored and distributed to 22 countries where the disabled cannot get such “luxuries” and are left as castaways or have to drag themselves around by their hands. Wheels for the World is a ministry of Joni and Friends.

Benefit dinner

NEW SHARON — There will be benefit spaghetti dinner and auction for Franklin County lifetime resident Darlene Dill Power beginning at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 12, at the New Sharon Congregational Church Vestry. Donations accepted.

Darlene grew up in New Sharon and graduated from Mt. Blue High School. She recently had back surgery to have the space widened within her pelvic cavity due to a pinched nerve after blowing a spinal disc. The surgery went terribly wrong, leaving her paralyzed.

The benefit goal is to raise enough to obtain a Tempur-pedic bed with adjustable frame for Darlene.

Ski club

FARMINGTON — The Farmington Ski Club will hold its annual meeting at 7 p.m.  Monday, June 13, at the Titcomb Mountain Lodge in West Farmington. All Farmington Ski Club members are invited to attend. Meeting agenda includes approval of the slate of new directors and of the budget for 2011-12 season.
