AUBURN — Hannah Warren found the net with just two minutes left in regulation to lift Oxford Hills to a 12-11 victory over Edward Little in a late-season KVAC girls’ lacrosse tilt Thursday.

Warren led the Vikings (5-6) with eight goals, while Danielle Allen added two. single tallies by Amanda and Marisa Hanning completed the scoring. Audrey Komulainen made 15 saves to notch the win.

The Red Eddies (1-10) received four goals from Shelby Russell, while Saydi Voisine and Hannah Johnston each tallied three. Miranda Casey also scored for Edward Little, while Paige Landry turned aside 10 shots in the cage.

Gardiner 15, Mtn. Valley 8

RUMFORD — Brooke Davies and Jen Day each netted six goals Thursday as Gardiner overpowered Mountain Valley 15-8 in MVC girls’ lacrosse action.

Hayley Thibeau, Caitlin Ham and Brooke Curtis also tallied for the Bulldogs (6-4). Shawna Moulton and Maddy Cutler combined for seven saves for Gardiner.

The Falcons (3-7) received three goals each from Ayla Allen and Elizabeth Glover, while Tia White and Chelsea Bordeau also tallied. Jordan True turned aside 11 shots for Mountain Valley.

Deering 14, Lewiston 7

LEWISTON — Zahra Abu netted six goals Thursday to lead Deering to a 14-7 victory over Lewiston in a Class A girls’ lacrosse matchup.

Kayla Vachone chipped in for Deering (4-7) with four goals, while Maddie Burns added two. Single tallies by Delaney Lorning and Maddie Ostwald completed the scoring. Lilly Worthley made five saves to notch the win.

The Blue Devils (4-6) received three goals from Saba Naji, while Lauren Lessard added two goals and one assist. Sara Marden and Emily Paione also tallied for Lewiston, while Sam Cote made 17 saves between the posts.

Softball

Buckfield 9, Old Orchard Beach 7

BUCKFIELD — Heather Clavet scattered five hits and sparked a sixth-inning rally as Buckfield pulled away to a 9-7 victory over Old Orchard Beach in softball action Thursday.

Sami Zak, Sami Jones and Clavet all had three hits for the Bucks (8-2) in a well-balanced attack. Old Orchard had tied things up at 7-7 until Clavet drove Alicia Patrie across the plate for the go-ahead run.

Gillian Foss went the distance for Old Orchard and suffered the loss.

Wells 7, Gray-NG 2

GRAY — Gray-New Gloucester battled a tough late-season opponent Thursday, as Wells rolled to a 7-2 victory.

Alicia Valente and Alex Thompson each belted singles in the first frame, while Stephanie Greaton, Maggie Chaplin and Kellie Sanborn all hit singles in the seventh. Chaplin allowed five hits with seven strikeouts in her efforts on the mound.

Oxf. Hills 4, Brunswick 1

PARIS — Heather Verrier scattered six hits and struck out nine batters to lead Oxford Hills to a 4-1 triumph over Brunswick in a KVAC softball game Thursday.

Clinging to a 1-0 lead, the Vikings (11-4) scored three times in the third to take control. Alex Rowe singled home two runs and then later scored on a passed ball.

Jen Wengler was the hard-luck loser for the Dragons, limiting Oxford Hills to four hits. Kalyn Leblanc had two hits for Brunswick.

Georges Valley 9, Lisbon 0

LISBON —Rachel Frye and Jill Bradbury made a for a potent combination on the mound Thursday, as Georges Valley cruised to a 9-0 romp over Lisbon in MVC softball action.

Bradbury helped her own cause with three hits and two RBIs, while Kennadi Grover went 2-for-4 with one RBI.

The Greyhounds utilized Kimber Morse on the mound, who gave up nine hits with three walks. Haley Eck and Bailey Madore each contributed with base hits for Lisbon.

Belfast 4, Leavitt 3

TURNER — Leavitt’s three-run lead in the first inning slowly fell apart as Belfast scored a run over the next four innings to slip away with a 4-3 victory over the Hornets (5-9) in a KVAC softball game Thursday.

It didn’t help that Leavitt committed four errors and the Lions (9-5) capitalized on two of them. Belfast used a nine-hit attack and did not commit an error.

Killyan Richards and Hayley Rae each doubled, and teammate Morgan Mansfield had two hits. For the Hornets, Shannon Clarke had three hits and catcher Annie Castonguay added two.

Winning pitcher Victoria Overlock struck out nine Leavitt batters and gave up six hits.

Carrabec 7, Mtn. Valley 6

NORTH ANSON — Mountain Valley (4-7) was holding a 4-3 lead after three winnings when Carrabec (7-7) piled up four runs in the fourth inning and held on for a 7-6 victory over the Falcons in a softball game Thursday.

The Falcons scored two runs over the next two innings, but winning pitcher Courtney Turner held her ground on the mound and struck out seven batters.

Mountain Valley’s Courtney Carlson doubled twice, punched up a single, and drove in three runs. Becca Bergeron doubled and singled and had an RBI for the Cobras. Losing pitcher Brooke Dolloff was credited with two RBIs for the Falcons.

Madison 12, Dirigo 0

DIXFIELD — Emily McKenney gave up one hit and helped her own cause with a home run as Madison cruised to a 12-0 victory over Dirigo in MVC softball action Thursday.

Erika Parker also smashed a two-run home run for Madison (8-5), while Aley Janais led the squad with three hits and three runs scored.

Kirsten Wood and McKenney each finished with two hits in the contest.

Monmouth 8, St. Dom’s 2

AUBURN — Reen Kahl struck out nine and gave up just three hits as Monmouth hustled to a 8-2 victory over St. Dom’s in KVAC softball action Thursday.

Kylie Kemp went 2-for-4 for the Mustangs (10-3), highlighted by an RBI triple. Monmouth built a 3-0 advantage in the second frame and was never challenged.

The Saints (8-6) received an RBI double from Bethany Fox, while the squad had no repeat hitters.

Baseball

Leavitt 4, Belfast 1

TURNER — Christian McBreairty hurled five innings of solid ball, while Zack Fullerton was crisp in relief as Leavitt hustled to a 4-1 victory over Belfast in late-season KVAC baseball action Thursday.

Kevin Theiss led the Hornets (6-8) with two hits, including a key RBI single in the fifth. Belfast (4-9) tied the contest at 1-1 in the fourth before Leavitt took command.

Gray-NG 7, Wells 4

GRAY — Kyle Nielsen gave up two runs on six hits in six strong innings of work as Gray-New Gloucester rolled to a 7-4 victory over Wells in an WMC baseball tilt Thursday.

Heath Martell led the Patriots (9-6) with three hits, including a towering home run to left field in the first inning. Jordan Rice and Tim Lerette also contributed for Gray-New Gloucester with multiple hits.

Doug McLean and Paul McDonough paced the Warriors (9-5) with two hits and two RBIs each.

Livermore Falls 15, Jay 8

LIVERMORE FALLS — Bryan Maurais smacked a pair of home runs Thursday to propel Livermore Falls to a 15-8 victory over Jay in MVC baseball action.

Jimmy Seitz chipped in for the Andies (7-8) with a solo home run in the sixth. Alex Rose and Hunter Brett also contributed with three hits apiece. Gavin Jones picked up the mouind win after four innings of work.

The Tigers (3-10) were paced by Brandon Stearns with a two-run home run in the fourth inning. Eli Capen led the squad with two hits.

Dirigo 12, Madison 2

DIXFIELD — Cody St. Germain gave up three hits in six innings and drew plenty of run support as Dirigo cruised to a 12-2 rout over Madison in a late-season MVC baseball matchup.

Hunter Ross led the undefeated Cougars (14-0) with two hits and three RBIs, while Caleb Turner and T.J. Frost also belted out two hits each.

Dirigo jumped out to a 5-0 advantage in the first frame and was never threatened.

Georges Valley 10, Lisbon 6

LISBON — Georges Valley put up three runs in each of the second, fifth and seventh innings and never lost command of a 10-6 MVC baseball victory over Lisbon.

Dylan Maloney, Brandon Knight, Sam Tarbox and Ben Wallace each had two hits for the Buccaneers (4-8). Tarbox drove in three runs. Ethan Hyvarinen also had two RBIs.

Tobey Harrington was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Lisbon (4-11). Tarbox picked up the win for Georges Valley. Bryant Matthews nailed it down with three innings of two-hit relief.
