LEWISTON — The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society will hold their 6th annual Kitten Shower on Saturday, May 21, and Sunday, May 22.

Through the year of 2010, 1,633 kittens were brought to the shelter. To help care for these “babies,” they invite you to participate in their “shower” and help them get ready for the newborns. Donations such as dry and canned kitten food, kitten milk replacer, clay litter, litter boxes, cat and kitten shampoo, blankets and cat toys are just a few of the many supplies needed to help with their upcoming dramatic increase in kittens.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society provides a safe haven for more than 5,500 sick, homeless and abused animals in the greater Androscoggin area per year. The primary support for the shelter comes from fundraising events and donations of concerned citizens.

The Humane Society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave. For more information on the Kitten Shower, items needed for these young animals, the cats and kittens currently available for adoption or how you can become a foster parent and help care for a litter of kittens at your home, call the shelter at 783-2311 or visit www.gahumane.org. You can also join them on www.facebook/GAHumane.
