LIVERMORE FALLS — Regional School Unit 73 directors will continue review of a proposed $18.28 million budget on Tuesday for 2011-12 for the new consolidated school system.
The meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. May 17 at the Livermore Falls High School cafeteria and at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 18, at the Jay Middle School cafeteria.
Superintendents Bob Wall and Sue Pratt gave the board an overview of the proposed spending package and items requested, including $125,000 in reserve accounts but not in the budget on Thursday.
There is also $209,279 worth of recommended changes that are not approved by either the Jay School Committee or RSU 36 directors. The two systems merge on July 1.
Jay School Committee is taking up one of those items at 5 p.m. Tuesday, May 17, at the Jay Middle School library.
Jay Superintendent Bob Wall is recommending, as a result of changes in local conditions, the elimination of one Jay Elementary School technology integrator effective Aug. 31. The Jay School Committee put off action on eliminating the position in April to see if any money would be available to fund it.
In relation to that, Wall is recommending, as result of changes in local conditions, that a kindergarten through eighth-grade teacher be eliminated effective Aug. 31.
The cost associated with a technology integration teacher position is $69,689, according to budget information.
