AUBURN – Students at Auburn’s Washburn School recently presented a check to the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society in the amount of $400. The money was raised through the school’s Beads for Buddies fundraiser. Agren Appliance provided seed money to purchase materials for the program.

Steve Dostie, Donna Kincer and “Kermit” the dog accepted the check on behalf of the Greater Androscoggin Humane Society.

Earlier this year, Washburn School’s Beads for Buddies Committee, led by Mrs. Burke and Dr. Hyde, sold beads for 10 cents each. On Valentine’s Day, the committee delivered the beads and hand-selected messages to recipients along with materials to make either a bracelet or key chain.

The Greater Androscoggin Humane Society is located at 55 Strawberry Ave., Lewiston. To find out ways you can help and more information, visit www.savingpetsinmaine.org or call 783-2311.
