LEWISTON — The Androscoggin Valley Soil and Water Conservation District has extended its deadline to order plants, barrels and bins to Friday, May 13.
A collection of conservation products are being offered to give an opportunity to recycle kitchen scraps with an Earth Machine compost bin, and reduce water usage by collecting rain water and roof water runoff with a rain barrel.
The native conservation plants can be used in rain gardens, serve as a buffer, provide wildlife habitat and food source. Plants available include a variety of perennials, ferns, grasses, groundcovers, vines, trees and other shrubbery.
The plant sale list and order forms are available at www.androscogginswcd.net or residents may ask Jane Heikkinen to mail copies by calling 753-9400, ext 400.
Orders and payment are due by May 13. Pick up date for all items will be 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 21, at the Lewiston District Office parking lot behind the USDA Service Center, 254 Goddard Road.
