CARRABASSETT VALLEY — Julia Clukey, a 2010 Olympian and Augusta native, will provide a presentation to the students of Carrabassett Valley Academy on Tuesday at the school.
Clukey competed in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games in Vancouver, Canada, finishing 17th in luge, and has announced she plans on participating in the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, according to a news release.
Carrabassett Valley Academy, a private high school, invited Clukey to share her story of Olympic success and her message about responsibility. Throughout her presentation, Clukey will speak about the responsibilities associated with being a student, various pressures from friends and family and the importance of good decision making. This spring, as part of the Maine Beer & Wine Distributors Association’s responsibility initiative, Clukey will make several more appearances at high schools across the state. The hour-long event from 2:15 to 3:15 p.m. on May 10 will include a short video highlighting her career, her experiences of growing up and the challenges she has overcome.
During the presentation she will discuss the importance of good decision making and spread her message of responsibility to the high school students.
