AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — The health care overhaul bill is up for another vote, days after the House approved the measure in a party-line vote.

The measure comes up Tuesday for another go-around in the House as minority Democrats continue to plead for more time to consider the legislation. It would allow individuals to purchase health insurance from companies licensed in other states, and allow carriers to offer a more diverse set of insurance products, among other changes.

Democrats say it would raise rates for older Mainers and companies with older employees, and for rural residents and businesses. Democratic Rep. Sharon Treat of Hallowell says many of its provisions would be pre-empted by the federal health care overhaul, but Republicans say the bill’s “in sync” with the national law.
