Dog wash fundraiser

AUBURN — Central Maine Community College Phi Theta Kappa will hold a dog wash fundraiser from 10 a.m. to noon Sunday, May 1, at Top Dog Professional Grooming and Dog Wash, 120 Center St. Members of the school’s Alpha Phi Xi chapter of PTK will be washing dogs.

Clothing center

TURNER — The Community Clothing Center run by the North Turner Presbyterian Church will be opening for the season on Wednesday, May 5, from 6 to 8 p.m. It will be open every Wednesday night through the fall. Anyone in need of good, affordable clothing is welcome to come by and do some shopping. Anyone with donations for the center is asked to bring them by on Wednesday nights when it is open.

The center is part of the community outreach program run by the church and everyone, except resellers, is welcome. Most items range from .25 cents to $1 each and include clothes for children, teens and adults.

Senior citizens

SABATTUS — Sabattus Senior Citizens will hold a meeting and meal at the Maxwell Hall at noon Thursday, May 5, Doors open at 11. Meal will be lasagna with all the fixings. After the meeting there will be a few games of bingo. To sign up or get more information call Doris at 784-7950.

Legion breakfast

BUCKFIELD — A public breakfast will be held from 7 to 9 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at John D. Long Post #58 American Legion. On the menu will be eggs, bacon, sausage, baked beans, homefries, homemade doughnuts, toast, juice and coffee. Adults will cost $5 and children under 12 will cost $3. There will be a 50/50 raffle.

Cemetery meeting

BOWDOIN — The annual meeting of the Woodlawn Cemetery Association will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 7, at the West Bowdoin Baptist Church Parish Hall on West Road.

Spaghetti supper

BUCKFIELD — A spaghetti supper will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, May 7, at the Masonic Hall. The meal includes spaghetti, meatballs and vegetarian sauces, tossed salad, rolls, cake and beverages.

Mother honored

SABATTUS — Each year the officers and board of directors pick a mother who is a member of the Jacques Cartier Club for the outstanding work done for the betterment of the club. The member name is not disclosed until the evening of the crowning, which will be from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday, May 7.

She will reign for one year. The festivites are open to the public. A light lunch will be provided and dancing to follow. The music will be provided by Trio. Tickets must be purchased prior to the event at $10 per person. For information, contact Sally Dumont at 784-8763.

Spring tea

TOPSHAM — Mid-Coast Presbyterian Church, 84 Main St., will host a Spring Tea on Saturday, May 7. There will be two settings, from noon to 2 p.m. and from 3 to 5 p.m.

The menu for the event includes assorted finger sandwiches, scones with whipped butters, preserves and lemon curd, a variety of desserts and tea. Advance tickets are $12.50 for adults and $6.50 for children under 12. Local musicians will provide a musical interlude for your enjoyment. Quilt show

NEW GLOUCESTER — A quilt show will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 7, at the New Gloucester History Barn, Route 231, behind the Town Hall. Local quilters working in a variety of styles will be featured. Free and open to the public. Sponsored by the New Gloucester Historical Society.

Benefit auction

AUBURN — A ticket auction will be held on Saturday, May 7, at St. Phillips Church on Route 4. Proceeds to benefit a local woman who is battling breast cancer for the third time. Doors open at 11 a.m. and auction begins at 1 p.m. Hundreds of items, gift certificates, large item table, 50/50, grab bags, bake sale, lunch available, two callers and no intermission. Auction items include: a baker’s basket, valued over $100; tool box filled with odds and ends, valued over $100; a scrapbooking basket, valued over $100; tools, candles, toys.
