LIVERMORE — Town officials are weighing the options of buying a new truck or sinking significantly more money into an existing one, town administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Monday.

The existing truck, a Sterling with dual-axles purchased in fall 2003, has been used to plow roads and do other chores for eight winters, he said.

The maintenance expense on the truck has been very heavy in the current year and it is expected to be heavy again in the coming year. The highway crew has identified maintenance issues that will cost in excess of $10,000, he said.

If the decision is made to replace it, it will be done through a capital purchase, borrowing article on the annual town meeting warrant in June, Schaub said.

Selectpersons and Schaub will hold a workshop at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 7, at the town office to review proposed budget expenses and funding for 2011-12.
