FARMINGTON — The 2011 Maine Geographic Bee is taking place at the University of Maine at Farmington on Friday, April 1.

The event begins at noon with opening remarks by Theodora J. Kalikow, UMF president, in Lincoln Auditorium, UMF Roberts Learning Center.

Kalikow’s remarks will be followed by preliminary round competitions in rooms at the Olsen Student Center and at the Lincoln Auditorium.

Final round competitions and award presentations will take place from 2:45-4:30 p.m. in Lincoln Auditorium.

The state bees are sponsored by Google and Plum Creek. The winner of the Maine Bee will go to the national competition in Washington, D.C. in May.
