DAR to meet

SABATTUS — Burnt Meadow Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 12, at the Wales Masonic/Grange Hall, 322 Centre Road. The topic will be Josiah Chamberlain.

Members are reminded that the state convention will be held March 26-27 at the Hilton Garden Inn in Auburn and reservations must be in by March 10.

Members are requested to bring a $5 McDonald’s coupon book to be donated at the convention for homeless veterans or send same to regent for donation at the convention.

Plans will be made for the DAR Good Citizen Awards luncheon in April.

Toastmasters contest

LEWISTON — Members of the Lewiston-Auburn Toastmasters Club will compete in club contests from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 15, at the Androscoggin County Chamber of Commerce building, 415 Lisbon St. The public is welcome to watch.

The event is part the 2011 Toastmasters International Speech Contest. Two winners will compete in the area contest April 2 in Belfast.

Bridge results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston-Auburn Social Bridge Club winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on Monday, March 7, were as follows:

1st: Les Buzzell and Paul Sherman; 2nd: Rosemarie and Tom Goodwin; 3rd: Alberta Turner and Luke Merry.

Games are played at 9 a.m. every Monday and Tuesday and at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday at Schooner Estates, 200 Stetson Rd., Auburn. A partner is always guaranteed. Call Rosemarie at 754-1431 for information about all duplicate bridge games in the area.
