JAY — Sixteen residents of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls have filed nomination papers to be candidates for the new 13-member board for RSU 73.
Both Livermore and Livermore Falls will have contested races.
The board will oversee a new consolidated school system that will be made up of Jay and RSU 36 schools.
Voting hours will be held from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Jay and Livermore Falls town offices and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Livermore town office on Tuesday, April 19. The new school system goes into effect on July 1.
Seeking election from Jay, which was allotted six positions on the board, are Mike Morrell, Darcie Comstock, Vicki McLeod, Mary Redman-Luce, Dan DiPompo and Tammy Dwinal-Shufelt. Comstock, Redman-Luce, DiPompo and Dwinal-Shufelt are currently on the Jay School Committee.
Six candidates are running for election from Livermore Falls for four seats on the board. They are Denise Rodzen, Jackie Knight, Tammy Frost, Carmen Cullin, Ann Souther and Katrina Roy. Rodzen, Knight and Souther are currently RSU 36 directors.
Four candidates are seeking election Livermore’s three terms on the board. They are Tim Madden, Cindy Young, Ashley O’Brien and Diane Gould. Young, O’Brien and Gould are current RSU 36 board members.
