FARMINGTON — A local man faces charges of stealing an antique rifle from an acquaintance’s home in Salem Township, Franklin County Sheriff Lt. Niles Yeaton said.
Christopher Withall, 21, of Farmington was arrested on charges of possession of a firearm by a felon, burglary and theft on Tuesday, Yeaton said.
Withall allegedly entered the residence with a relative of the homeowner within the past two weeks, he said. The homeowner reported the Winchester lever-action rifle missing and called the Sheriff’s Department on Monday, Yeaton said.
Deputies met with Withall and he confessed to taking it, he said.
The rifle, estimated by the victim to have a value of $2,100, was returned.
Withall appeared in court Thursday and his bail was set at $500 cash or a state pretrial service agreement, a corrections officer said.
