DIXFIELD — The Regional School Unit 10 board this week extended Superintendent Tom Ward’s contract and approved a French teacher’s request for a trip to Paris, France, for any high school student in the district.
Ward said the board voted unanimously Monday to extend his contract until July 1, 2014. His salary will be determined during the spring, budget development process.
The board also unanimously approved a trip from June 23 to July 1, 2012, as requested by Dirigo High School French teacher Mary Kaubris.
Ward said such requests are generally acted on early so that students will have a chance to save or raise money for the trip.
The cost per student will be $3,200, and a minimal number of fundraisers will be held, Ward said. Between 18 and 20 students are expected to sign up for the trip. Four chaperons will accompany the students.
Any student from Dirigo, Mountain Valley or Buckfield high schools is eligible to take part.
Also at Monday’s meeting, the first reading of a proposed districtwide health policy was approved. This policy would follow a state mandate calling for all students who enroll in the district to have all required immunizations within 90 days.
