PITTSFIELD — Maggie Sabine netted 17 points, had eight steals, six assists and pulled down 15 rebounds to lead Oak Hill to a 59-38 rout over MCI in a girls’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Chassidy Hilchey and Darby Beaulieu chipped in for the powerhouse Raiders (10-3) with 10 points each, the only players in double figures.
MCI was paced by Kylee Alton with 15 points, highlighted by three from outside the arc.
Lake Region 52, Poland 30
NAPLES — Freshman center Tiana Carter used her height and scored 19 points as Lake Region sank Poland (2-11) 52-30 in a girls’ basketball game Tuesday night.
Lake Region took a 20-11 halftime lead.
The Lakers’ Hannah Cutting added 16 points and Kelsey Winslow dropped in 10.
For Poland, freshman guard Emily Bolduc deposited the team-high 11 points and had five steals.
Hebron 53, Seacoast 52
HEBRON — Hebron got a team-high 23 points from Janelle Bradish and the Lumberjacks held off a strong Seacoast fourth quarter for a 53-52 win in girls’ hoops action.
Hebron built a 29-26 halftime lead and a 45-36 edge through three quarters before Seacoast mounted its fourth-quarter splurge.
Olivia Brown helped seal the victory with strong free-throw shooting down the stretch, ending up with 13 points. Malorie Johnson followed with 11 points, including a trio of baskets from behind the arc for the Lumberjacks. Ruth Towle paced Seacoast with a game-high 26 points followed by Shannon Kunz with 12 points.
Gray-NG 38, Fryeburg 26
FRYEBURG — Gray-New Gloucester bolted out to a 19-1 first-quarter lead en route to a 38-26 victory over host Fryeburg Academy in girls’ basketball action.
Gray-New Gloucester led 22-10 at the half. Fryeburg played the Patriots evenly in the second half, with each team scoring 16 points.
Sophomore guard Halee Cote scored a game-high 17 points, sinking a five 3-point baskets for the Patriots (8-5). Maggie Chaplin and Alicia Valente each contributed with six points in the victory.
Katie Heggie led Fryeburg
(4-9) with nine points.
EL 61, Brewer 41
AUBURN — Ashlee Arnold and Kate Sawyer ignited huge second- and third-quarter rallies as Edward Little hustled to a 61-41 victory over Brewer in KVAC girls’ basketball action Tuesday evening.
Sophomore sensation Arnold led the Red Eddies (11-2) with 32 points, including 15 in a big 22-9 third-quarter run. Sawyer finished with eight points, all tallied in a 20-point second quarter rally. Francesca Lally also contributed with 11 points, including three shots from beyond the arc.
Brewer (7-6) was paced by Morgan Small with 10 points, while Holly Nickerson and Maddy Bailey each added eight.
Rangeley 44, Buckfield 26
RANGELEY — Rangeley used a 14-6 run in the second quarter to pull away from Buckfield and went on to record a 44-26 victory in girls’ basketball action Tuesday.
Chantal Carrier led the mighty Lakers (11-2) with 18 points, while sister Emily chipped in with seven points, five assists and five steals.
The struggling Bucks (2-10) were led by Kaitlyn Rines with a solid 10-point effort, the only player in double figures.
Jay 51, Mt. Abram 17
JAY — Jay jumped out to a 22-7 advantage in the first half and was never challenged as the Tigers raced away to a 51-17 rout over Mt. Abram in an MVC girls’ basketball tilt Tuesday.
Beth Moore led the Tigers (10-3) with 13 points, 10 steals and five rebounds. Alexi Deering chipped in with nine points and 10 rebounds for Jay in a well-balanced attack. Mt. Abram (5-8) was paced by Mykayla Luce with five points, while Jill Howard added three.
Leavitt 64, Winslow 50
TURNER — Leavitt went on a 17-6 run in the third quarter, pulled steadily away from Winslow and came away with a 64-50 win in a KVAC girls’ matchup Tuesday. Adrianna Newton led the undefeated Hornets (13-0) with 21 points, while Courtney Anderson chipped in with 20. Anderson was presented with a nomination for the 2011 McDonalds All-American Team.
Winslow (8-3) was led by Elizabeth Ferry, who scored 16 points, and Mariah Chenard dropped in 15-points, while Alliyah Veilleux
chipped in with 11.
