AUBURN — A man was stuck briefly under the bumper of a sport utility vehicle Wednesday night, struck while crossing the intersection at Court and Main streets.
The victim was conscious and alert when rescuers arrived at about 4:30 p.m. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston to be examined.
Police said the driver of the SUV was also injured when she rushed to the fallen man’s aid. She was being examined for an ankle injury.
The names of the victims were not available later Wednesday night.
Police said the man who was struck was wearing dark clothing when he stepped out into traffic near Gritty McDuff’s.
Police briefly blocked the intersection of Main and Court streets to traffic as emergency vehicles responded. The crash remained under investigation Wednesday night.
