FARMINGTON — Franklin County Justice Michaela Murphy reduced bail Friday for a Wilton man accused in a Chesterville kidnapping case.

Michael Morse, 39, was released from jail on personal recognizance after initially being held on $7,500 bail. He is also under a Maine pretrial service agreement.

State Police arrested Morse on Nov. 25 on felony charges of kidnapping, aggravated criminal trespass and criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon.

Morse and co-defendants Cherith Andresen, 32, and Clarence White, 49, both also of Wilton, are accused of dragging a Chesterville man from his camper on Nov. 24, tying him up with zip ties, holding a knife to his throat and assaulting him.

The three appeared in 8th District Court in Lewiston on Nov. 29 and a judge set bail at $10,000 for Andresen, $7,500 and a pretrial agreement for Morse, and $10,000 cash or $5,000 and a pretrial agreement for White.

Andresen remains in custody at Somerset County Jail in Madison.

Morse had been in custody until Friday.

White was previously released on bail.
