Promising newcomers: Senior — Sheldon Jones (5-10 guard); Juniors — Luke Cote (5-11 guard), Joe McKinnon (5-11 guard), Jeff Turcotte (5-10 guard), Jake Dumas (6-4 forward), Ben Chicoine (5-10 guard), Matt Chouinard (5-9 guard); Sophomore — Abdi Hussein (6-2 forward).

Outlook: After two rough seasons, this may be the year the Blue Devils begin to turn things around. An exhibition win over Westbrook, a perennial Class A playoff contender, opened some eyes. Lewiston returns only one starter, Hyde, but he is expected to be one of the top players in the KVAC South. Farrar believes the Devils will be able to develop the one or two outside shooters they’ve lacked in recent seasons. And one notable strength despite the recent struggles — quickness and the ability to run the floor from start to finish — remains intact. Wins in December would help the team’s confidence as well as its tournament hopes.

Coach’s comment: “There are going to be a bunch of us battlinf for those seventh and eighth playoff spots.” — Coach Tim Farrar
