LEWISTON — A Minot man was arrested Wednesday night and charged with robbing a local Rite-Aid pharmacy last month.

Benjamin Lukeski, 34, of Pottle Hill Road was arrested in the area of College and Sabattus streets and charged with robbery.

Police say Lukeski is the man who walked into Rite Aid on Lisbon Street the night of Nov. 24 and demanded the prescription drug oxycodone from a pharmacist.

He was last seen fleeing the store in a vehicle with an undisclosed quantity of the drug, police said.

The suspect was not immediately found, but investigators from the Lewiston Police Department were joined by others from the Central Maine Violent Crime Task Force and the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency.

Police said information gathered during the investigation pointed to Lukeski as a suspect. When he was spotted by police at about 7:30 p.m., he was arrested and taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where he was being booked later Wednesday night.

The robbery at the Lisbon Street Rite Aid was one in a string of similar heists in which lone suspects entered area pharmacies and demanded prescription drugs. The other heists remained under investigation.
