Traffic on Route 108 was reduced to one lane on Wednesday morning opposite NewPage Corp. in Rumford while an excavator from Pratt and Sons of Minot removed loose rock. A Maine Drilling and Blasting crew will arrive next week to break up larger chunks of ledge lining the south-bound lane to provide a 10-foot snow storage shelf before the Maine Department of Transportation project shuts down for the winter on Thursday, Dec. 23, MDOT engineer Jeff Wallace said on Wednesday.
