HARTFORD, Maine (AP) — Maine Forest Service officials say humans started a fire that burned 33 acres of forest in the town of Hartford.
But officials say they don’t know if the Saturday fire first spotted by hunters was intentionally set.
WCSH-TV says 15 firefighters from three towns helped extinguish the fire.
Ranger Arthur Lavoie says the damp forest floor underneath the fallen leaves kept the fire above ground and made it easier to fight.
Lavoie says the investigation should take about a week.
