It just arrived yesterday afternoon from Portland, followed the Maine Central track and finally made a beautiful descent in front of the Blue Store. It’s a Glenn Curtiss machine — won the Gordon Bennett international up at Rheims, France, also won first prize at the Zrescia, Italy meet. There were three of these models at the Harvard meet. It is now on exhibition at the Shoe Dept. of the Blue Store. Everybody is welcome to see a real flying machine at close quarters.

Three Maine counties have been chosen to receive a total of $20,889 to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the area. Androscoggin County received $11,845, Franklin County $3,611 and Oxford County $5,443.

The monies being received are a third less than last year, due to the fact that Congress has appropriated less. A bill is now before the House and Senate that would increase the nationwide grant by $70 million. If that bill passes, Androscoggin, Franklin and Oxford counties could receive additional funds, according to the United Way.
