An Auburn restaurant’s owners have brought a $10,000 civil lawsuit against the Auburn Sewer District, alleging they should be reimbursed for sewer bills they paid, because there may be no municipal sewer hookup for their building.
The Big S restaurant at 5 Washington St. may be hooked up to sewer lines serving a neighboring building, but so far no one has found the connecting lines.
Now, the restaurant owners say that since there’s no evidence they have been using the Auburn Sewer District collection system, they should be reimbursed for the sewer bills they paid between 1979 and 1983, when the problem surfaced.
