Algonquin Tribe of Red Men, Lewiston, is making preparations to adopt a large class of pale faces. Already a large number of applications have been accepted and more are to be acted upon at the next meeting. There will be a rehearsal of the Warriors degree Monday evening.
50 years ago, 1960
Hundreds of shoppers flocked to the downtown business district in Lewiston yesterday, the first of three “free parking days” sponsored by the Chamber of Commerce.
William P. Tewhey, the Chamber’s executive vice president, said traffic in the stores was good and that the five off-street parking lots were filled to capacity most of the day. The free parking promotion continues today and tomorrow.
25 years ago, 1985
One of the oldest races in the state of Maine will once again be held this November. Race director Dan Campbell announced that the annual Lost Valley 15 KM will be held on November 17 at 1:00 p.m.
The race will once again begin and end at the base lodge.
Applications will be available at Athletic Attic, Goldsmiths, Playtime Sports and the Auburn Recreation Department.
