AUBURN — A Leeds teen died Friday night when the car he was driving flipped on Stone Road, partially ejecting him from the vehicle.
Police said early Saturday morning that 17-year-old Madison Daigle died after losing control of the 1995 Volkswagen Jetta he was driving. Critically injured, he was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where he later died, said Deputy Chief Jason Moen of the Auburn Police Department.
A 17-year-old male passenger was treated and released from CMMC. The accident remained under investigation, Moen said.
“Preliminary investigation shows that Daigle was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash and excessive speed is a factor in the crash,” the release stated. “Auburn investigators are being assisted by an accident reconstructionist from Lewiston Police Department.”
Police, rescue and fire crews were called at 9:51 p.m. when it was reported the driver was partially pinned beneath his vehicle.
The first officer at the scene reported he was getting a pulse from the victim, a Lewiston firefighter said. Moments later, the officer told a dispatcher the pulse was lost, he said.
Stone Road runs between Fern Street in Turner and Old Turner Road in Auburn. Androscoggin County Sheriff’s officials were notified of the crash and assisted with traffic control on the Turner side.
