WILTON — Police are investigating the theft of a snowmobile valued at $10,000 from a parking lot next to the Big Apple on Route 2 on Sunday, police Chief Dennis Brown said Tuesday.

Officer Nick Zecker responded to a report of the theft at 12:16 p.m. The Massachusetts owner had parked his trailer with a 2007 black and orange Arctic Cat Crossfire 1000 in the lot. The snowmobile had B&D racing stickers on it, Brown said.

The owner went off riding on his all-terrain vehicle at about 7 a.m. and when he returned at about noon, the machine was gone, the chief said.

Anyone with information about the stolen sled is asked to call Wilton Police at 645-4222.
