RUMFORD — A notice posted on the door of the Rumford District Court building announces that the court will be closed additional days this month due to continuing budget limitations.

The court will be closed to the public from 1 to 3 p.m. on the following non-court session days: Tuesday, Oct. 12; Thursday, Oct. 14; Monday, Oct. 25; and Tuesday, Oct. 26.

Additionally, Maine state courts will hold the autumn Administrative Week on Monday through Friday, Oct. 18 to Oct. 22, which means clerk’s offices in all district and superior courts, and the Supreme Judicial Court will be open to the public from noon to 4 p.m.

On all other work days, Rumford District Court will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., the notice reads.

Public hours have been reduced since last month due to a lack of employees to handle the needs of the public eight hours a day, five days a week.

Normally, the Rumford office has a clerk and two assistants working, but now it is down to a clerk and one assistant, and cannot fill the vacancy yet.
