Grow garlic
FARMINGTON — Dave Fuller, agriculture and nontimber forest product professional at the University of Maine Cooperative Extension in Franklin County, will teach a workshop on growing garlic at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 4, at UMF’s Roberts Learning Center, Room 101 on 270 Main St.
The workshop will cover growing garlic, from choosing garlic varieties to harvest and storage. Preregistration is required. Call 778-4650. There is a $5 fee.
County jamboree
JAY — The Down East Country Music Association will hold a country music jamboree Friday and Saturday, Oct. 1 and 2, at the Where The Heck Are We Campground, 261 Davenport Road.
Entertainers will include George DeWitt, Shirley Brackett, Dell Parker, Kevin and Rhonda, Tux Burke, Bill Giasson and Becky Latham Haskell and others. There will be a Chinese auction, 50/50 drawing and raffles. Admission is $5 for adults, $3 for children. For more information, call 645-4595. Camping is available.
Public supper
JAY — A free public supper will be held Saturday, Oct. 9, at the Knights of Columbus Hall, Main Street. Doors will open at 3:30 p.m. and the meal will be served from 4:30 to 6 p.m.
The menu will include baked ham, salad, soup, bread, vegetable and desserts. Donations will be accepted. Supplies are needed and appreciated. Call 779-6951.
Snowmobile club
NEW VINEYARD — The New Vineyard North Snowmobile Club will meet at 6:30 p.m. for a potluck meal on Sunday, Oct. 3, at Smith Hall.
Attendees should bring a dish to share. The public is welcome to attend.
