This is in response to the Sun Journal article, “Seeking peace instead of controversy at Mechanic Falls cemetery.”
I think people might be interested to know that Mrs. Brenda Manchester has spent countless volunteer hours over the past several years in search of veterans’ graves so those graves can get the recognition they deserve.
She has mapped out the graveyard for future generations. During that time, she has attempted to work with the cemetery association in order to improve the poor maintenance of veterans’ and civilians’ graves. That attempt at collaboration has been met with hate and discontent.
The dead cannot speak for themselves and it is fortunate that Mrs. Manchester is dedicated to speaking for them.
