LEWISTON — For the sixth year in a row, the Franco-American Heritage Center has hosted a student immersion exchange program with St-Come Liniere, Quebec, for students ages 11 to 14, as a way of fulfilling it’s mission by passing on and preserving the rich customs, traditions, language and heritage of the Canadian immigrants.

The first week took place in Canada where five local students spent a week of activities immersed in the home of a French family. The students spent the second week in the Lewiston-Auburn area with American families, for a week of programs and activities.

Teachers have noticed that students who have participated in the program have improved their French language skills and that the program made a difference in their grades.

The program is sponsored by the Lewiston-Auburn Rotary Club.
