Lewiston GM Roger Shannon said Thursday afternoon the team anticipates releasing three players following Thursday’s contest, and another two Friday, The team also anticipates a hockey-related announcement Sunday, he said.
With the players anticipated to partake in pro camps in a couple of weeks, the cuts could also be temporary in nature, he said, but the team will have its basic shape by the weekend.
Shannon was hopeful but not too optimistic about the team’s planned outdoor activities on Saturday, though. The original plan was to stay in Fredericton after the game against Moncton there Friday and have a team retreat day Saturday.
Hurricane Earl apparetly thinks otherwise.
As far as Thursday’s game is concerned, Shannon said a few players who had yet to play due to nagging injuries will be on the ice. Michael Chaput, Matthew Bissonnette, Olivier Dame-Malka and Jeremiah Coonishish-Coon will all be back on the ice and see game action against Moncton on Thursday.
