Lost Valley Ski Area employees fill boxes of water on a chair. Once every 7 years, ski resorts are required to do a load test. Each chair going uphill is loaded with 2 boxes containing 194 lbs of water in each box. Once the lift is loaded, inspectors do all the safety checks, headed up by Tim Phister, from Phister engineering. Phister said this was one of the smoothest load tests he has ever done, with both lifts passing with “flying colors.” The resort has undergone major renovations to their base lodge over the summer and plans to open for the ski season on December 17th.
