TURNER — The Festival on the Green, Turner’s annual Fourth of July celebration, will be held again this year with a parade at 10 a.m. Sunday, July 4, and a host of activities continuing through 2 p.m.
Turner Public Library’s book sale will be conducted in the Leavitt Institute Building from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both Sunday and Monday, July 4 and 5. Several thousand books will be priced at one dollar for hard-covers and 50 cents for paperbacks, with some books specially priced.
Following the parade on Sunday, there will be food and soft drinks available, open houses at the Turner Public Library, the Turner Historical Museum and at the Natural History Club, where there will also be a plant sale. There will be a number of games available for children of all ages arranged for and manned by members of the junior class at Leavitt Area High School.
Members of the Turner Historical Association will also host the opening of the Town House next to the Universalist Church.
Registration for the 5K race will begin at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday at the Leavitt Institute Building, and the race will get underway at 8:10 a.m.
Proceeds from the festival events will benefit the Turner Public Library and other participating community nonprofits.
