FARMINGTON — The next Prescriptions for Health presentation will focus on “Preparing for International Travel.” The presentation will take place from 6 to 7:15 p.m. Tuesday, June 29, in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital and includes light refreshments.
Dr. Michael Rowland will cover a variety of travel medicine issues with an emphasis on tropical diseases such as malaria and yellow fever. He will also describe the scope of services now available at the Franklin Memorial Hospital Travel Medicine Clinic. There will be ample time for questions and answers.
“The risks one may encounter vary widely from country to country, and even locally within a country,” said Rowland. “While there is a great deal of general information available on the Web, most travelers find it helpful to have an experienced physician guide them through the maze of information.”
Rowland has 30 years of medical experience including travel and work around the globe, and has provided care to immigrant workers from outside the U.S. since 1987.
Prescriptions for Health is open to the public and free of charge. Registration for the presentation is required, as space is limited. For more information or to register, call Jodi Cordes at 779-2451 or 1-800-398-6031, ext. 2451.
