PORTLAND (AP) — Deer, moose and bear hunting seasons are drawing to a close in Maine.

Saturday marks the final day of the deer firearms season, as well as the seasons for moose and bear hunting.

From late summer through fall, thousands of hunters take to the Maine woods in search of the state’s best-known prey.

Moose hunting ended for most of the state at the end of October, but the season continued through November for hunters along Maine’s coast from Kittery to Mount Desert Island.

The deer firearms season began Nov. 2 and is ending Saturday, but the muzzleloader season begins on Monday and continues on Dec. 12.
