BRISTOL, R.I. (AP) – A Rhode Island lobsterman who hauled up a 12½-pound crustacean says he’s having trouble finding a home for the creature.
Bob Morris of Bristol says it would be a shame if the female lobster he estimates is about 60 years old ends up on the dinner table.
He says he’d rather see it in a zoo, aquarium or some other institution where it can live out its days without fear of being dropped in boiling water and slathered in drawn butter.
The trouble is, there have been no takers so far.
Morris is also considering a charity fundraiser, with the winner getting to release the lobster into the ocean.
Morris and his deckhand caught the crustacean late last month near the Newport Bridge.
